‘The Bright Day’, directed by Mohit Takalkar has been selected to compete at the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival. The festival which will be held in June, will see Takalkar’s film represent India in the Asia New Talent Award category.Though he is elated with the nomination, Mohit is disappointed with the approach his film has received in India.

According to Mohit the film has no takers in the country. It is not a main stream Bollywood film and has no big stars and has not got any distributors till date. Mohit Takalkar is a well-known name in the theater circuit. The director, film editor and sound designer’s bold and experimental plays have won accolades from the public and theatre critics alike.

‘The Bright Day’ which revolves around a young man Shiv who sets on a spiritual quest to discover what he seeks in the outside world, features actors Mohan Agashe, Shernaz Patel, and Radhika Apte. The film has been screened at a lot of festivals in the recent past, but Mohit still wants to show it to the Indian audiences.

The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), founded in 1993, is China’s only A-category international film festival accredited by the FIAPF. The 16th edition of the festival will be held from 15th to 23rd June 2013.
