After having its World Premiere at MAMI as part of India Gold, the film also opened the International Film Festival of Thrissur, earlier this year. It was also the only Hindi film in the International Competition at the IFFK, Kerala. The film is selected in competition in the upcoming Stuttgart Indian Film Festival. The film produced by Monalisa Mukherji under the banner of Little Lamb Films, has been picked up by Alpha Violet, one of France’s leading sales agents which marked their first ever Indian acquisition. When asked about the journey of the film, director Bauddhayan Mukherji who made his directorial debut with the award winning Bengali feature, Teenkahon exclaims, “The journey of The Violin Player is just beginning. As far as Durban in concerned, for us filmmakers, a festival like this is like the Olympics where one gets to represent ones country. Hence a win here makes it sweeter… as you end up winning laurels not for the film… not for yourself… but for India.”
