Actor Saeed Jaffrey known for his notable work in several Indian and International films passed away at the age of 86.

He had a distinguished career in Hindi cinema and also carved a niche for himself in International films having been part of titles like A Passage To India, Gandhi and The Man Who Would Be King. His notable works in Hindi cinema include Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Masoom, and Chashme Buddoor amongst others.

Jaffrey began his career as a theatre actor and also had a small stint with All India Radio in 1950s. He later started his own English Theatre group in Delhi. The veteran actor also went on to become a regular face on the British small screen. Jaffrey was also awarded the Order of British Empire for his contribution to drama.

Jaffrey was married to actress-author Madhur Jaffrey. They divorced in 1966. He then married Jennifer who is a casting agent.
