Girish Malik’s Jal will premiere at Busan International Film Festival. This is Girish’s debut film who donned the director’s hat after trying his luck as an actor. The festival is scheduled for October, 3 – 12. The film will feature in ‘New Currents’ segment with 12 other entries.

Jal tells the story of a water diviner Bakka who lives in a village in the Rann of Kutch. The issue of water scarcity is the theme of the film. The cast include Purab Kohli, Kirti Kulhari, Tannishtha Chatterjee and half-German, half-Russian model and actress Saidah Jules.

The film is based on Rakesh Mishra’s story who has also penned the screenplay with the director. Sonu Nigam and Bickram Ghosh have created a pleasing music score for the film.

Produced by One World Films Pvt Ltd, Jal is ready for an all India release and it will soon be released after its premiere at Busan International Film Festival.

Popular TV shows such as Rishtey – Love stories and Mission Fateh were produced and directed by Girish. Tara, Banegi Apni Baat and Suhana Safar were his last TV shows where he faced the camera before becoming a director.
