After giving an amazing performance in Holiday, Akshay Kumar is geared up for his next Film Airlift, a thriller based on one of the biggest human evacuations. The film which deals with the story of Indian who were stuck in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion has Akki playing  Ranjit Katyal, a billionaire businessman who aids the high-profile rescue operation. The film will be directed by Raja Krishna Menon.

The latest update of the film is that it is the very talented Nimrat Kaur who will be paired opposite lead star Akshay Kumar in the film. The Lunchbox actress will play Akshay’s wife and aide in the film.

The news was confirmed by T-Series’ spokesperson.  Nimrat Kaur, who was last seen in the critically acclaimed The Lunchbox, has also been signed up for the successful international TV Show Homeland.

The film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series along with Cape of Good Films, Crouching Tigers and Emmay Entertainment. Bhushan Kumar, producer T-Series, said, “The story is about Ranjit played by Akshay Kumar who helps in the world’s biggest human evacuation. We were looking for an actress with a strong persona to play his wife which will do justice to the strong emotional support the lead character needs. Nimrat has done a really good job in her previous films and made a mark in the industry. I am happy she is on board for the role.”

Airlift is set to go on floors in May 2015.
