Anurag Basu’s film Barfi has received an overwhelming response in Japan. Barfi won the Best Film Award at the recent Okinawa International Film Festival in Japan.

Director Anurag Basu tweeted, “#Barfi won the Grand Jury Prize @ Okinawa international Film Fest in Japan! winning @ okinava ws spl cz #Barfi was up against my fav film ‘Beasts of the southern wild’, winner at Cannes and had 4 oscar nominations.”

This was the the 5th edition of the Okinawa International Movie Festival which witnessed scores of Japan’s top comedians and international filmmakers descending on the southern Japanese outpost.
