Proposals are invited from Asian filmmakers for Al Jazeera’s Observational Documentary Workshop in collaboration with Busan International Film Festival to consider for commissioning for broadcast in 2014.

The deadline for submissions is July 26, 2013.

Al Jazeera’s programme has two weekly broadcast slots: one is formatted for 25 minutes and the other is for 48 minutes. Proposals are being sought primarily for the 25 minute slot. However, proposals that are better suited for the 48 minute slot will be considered as well.

The workshop will be held in Busan from September 30th – October 6th, 2013. The aim of the workshop is to work with filmmakers on observational documentary storytelling and to provide filmmakers with an overview of Al Jazeera’s editorial requirements. Al Jazeera will commission selected stories after the workshop. Travel and accommodation costs for the workshop will be covered.

Proposals must be submitted for a HD, 16:9, PAL, 25 minute documentary programme. Works-in-progress, i.e. projects that have already begun production can also be submitted. The documentary will be required to be delivered in June 2014 for broadcast.
