Starting from October 21st, the festival will bring together a selection of 10 of the best Turkish films especially curated for the Indian audience.

Turkey is the ‘Country of  Focus’ in India’s prominent  Jio MAMI 18th  Mumbai Film Festival with Star scheduled to be held from October 20th -27th, 2016.

The festival will bring together a selection of 10 of the best Turkish films especially curated for the Indian audience. It will be attended by Turkey’s Vice-Minister of Culture & Tourism, General Director of Cinema, Turkish Ambassador in New Delhi, and many leading broadcasters, producers, directors, scriptwriters, actors and actresses. The aim is to enhance the political, economic, artistic and cultural co-operation between Turkey and India.

The project is organized by TESİYAP,  (Television and Film Producers Professional Association),  and supported by theMinistry of Culture & Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema and Turkish Consulate General in Mumbai.

The ten films being screened will include films — Album, My Mother’s Wound, Bride, Snow Pirates, Winter Sleep, Ember, Blue Bicycle, Dust, Whisper If I Forget and 8 Seconds (refer to attached Schedule). The first film that will be screened from the specially curated list of films for the Festival is the 2016 drama film by BKM — My Mothers Wound – today, Friday, 21st October at PVR ECX Audi 5 from 2:30 to 4:30pm.. Directed by Ozan Aciktan and featuring Meryem Uzerli and Belçim Bilgin, the film tells us a touching love story about the trials and tribulations of an orphan.

One of the key initiatives at the Festival is a Turkish Indian Forum of Entertainment (Film & TV) Industry on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.  It will be attended by Turkey’s Vice-Minister of Culture & Tourism, General Director of Cinema, Turkish Ambassador in New Delhi, Founders and CEOs of leading Turkish production houses, high level representatives of Turkish line production houses and TV Channels, leading Producers, Directors, Scriptwriters, Actors and Actresses from Turkey. The primary objective of the Forum is to forge new relationships between the Cinema and TV industries of India and Turkey that will pave the way for collaborative productions, to build the legal foundation for co-production contracts and to contribute to the political, economic, artistic and cultural cooperation and solidarity between the two countries.

During the Festival, the Turkish Consulate General in Mumbai, H. E. Mr. Erdal Sabri Ergen, will host a Turkish reception with the attendance of the following guests: Turkey’s Vice-Minister of Culture & Tourism Hüseyin Yayman, General Director of Cinema Erkin Yılmaz, Turkish Ambassador in New DelhiBurak Akçapar, Turkish Consul General in Mumbai Erdal Sabri Ergen as well as prominent Turkish producers Birol Güven, Ali Gündoğdu, Faruk Turğut, Şükrü Avşar, Ömer Atay, ATV and Kanal D Representatives, Mars Distribution CEO Ferhat Aslan; successful Turkish directors Reha Erdem, Çağan Irmak,  Ömer Faruk Sorak, Murat Şeker, famous actors Hazal Kaya, Sarp Levendoğlu and Kaan Taşaner.

Among the directors who will screen their films at the Festival areÜmit Köreken, Gözde Kural, Faruk Hacıhafızoğlu in attendance. We also have some of Turkey’s leading Film and TV Stars joining us for the Festival. They are:  Ms. Hazal Kaya,Actress –TV Drama “Feriha” shown in India, Mr. Kaan Taşaner,Actor – TV Drama “Fatmagül” shown in India and Mr. Ali Sarp Levendoğlu, Actor – TV Drama “Little Lord” shown in India.
