DIFF 2013Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, for his valuable contribution to Indian cinema and politics, at the second edition of Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF) to be held from December 21 to December 27 in New Delhi.

“He is the most deserving candidate for this award. For 40 years, he has contributed to the Hindi film industry in different roles,” said Ram Kishore Parcha, the festival director.

This will be the first time Shatrughan Sinha is honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the film industry. The actor is known for the films like Kalicharan, Blackmail, Dostana, Shaan and Ganga Tere Desh Mein and Khoon Bhari Maang.

The Delhi International Film Festival will also honour Mr. K.P. Singh, chairman, DLF with Minar-e-Dilli Award for his contribution to Delhi and its neighbouring area. “Minar-e-Dilli is originated from the Qutub Minar legacy, by which the Delhi is popularly known for. Hence, the award is meant for the one who has played a major role in the development of any city in India,” said Ram Kishore Parcha, the festival director.

The festival will showcase 171 films from 39 countries around the world over the period of seven days at the NDMC Convention Center, Connought Place, New Delhi.

Muzaffar Ali’s classic film Umrao Jaan will have a special screening and award.

This year the event has been named as “Peace for World”.

The Opening Ceremony of the Delhi International Film Festival on December 21 will be graced by many diplomats and bureaucrats from around the world. They include Her Royal Excellency, Dr. Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura, Kingdom of Thailand; eminent actor and politician Mr. Shatrughan Sinha; Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Sri Lanka; Sh. Harish Rawat,Union Cabinet Minister, Water Resources , Govt. of India; Sh. Raj Babbar, Indian Film actor and Member of Parliament, Govt. of India; Sh. Muzaffar Ali, Indian Film Actor; Smt. Mira Ali, Indian Film Actress; Dr. Chanderprakash Diwedi (Director of Pinjar and TV serial Chanakya.); Dan Wolman and Benny Torati, Eminent Directors from Israel.
