International Film Festival of Kashmir starts August 7
The Experimental Moving Images and Theater Association (XMITA) will host a mega event— the International Film Festival of Kashmir (IFFK) 2014 from August 7 in summer capital here.
The bouquet of events, part of the festival, will start with the film-master class by Gurmeet Singh, Bollywood filmmaker and director of What the fish staring Dimple Kapadia and Vishal Sharma in leading roles. The screening of films will start after August 15.
“The festival is a benchmark for the non-government international film festivals across south Asia. The fourth edition of the film festival is a full-fledged extravaganza with more than 10 awards to be conferred during its fourth edition,” stated the organizers of the event.
“The 4th IFFK is deeply rooted in the concept that strives for a truer saner world —I applaud the effort,” Dr Manju Kak, writer and filmmaker, who is part of the Feature Film Selection Committee of IFFK 2014, said.
“The International Film Festival of Kashmir reflects a spirit of global camaraderie shared by upcoming and established filmmakers from across the world. The response to this festival has been phenomenal both in the expanse of submissions and in the quality of work presented- some being internationally acclaimed at various global forums,” Dr Kak added.
