The eighth edition the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne promises an interesting array of films. The biggest Indian film festival outside of Indian soil commences on August 11. Among the various films headed to the festival is N Padmakumar’s A Billion Colour Story which won the top prize at the annual London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) and is also selected for the upcoming 60th edition of BFI London Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival.

The story revolves around a family of filmmakers who sell their house in order to finance their film project. It follows the struggle of Hindu wife and Mother Parvi, 11-year-old, but wise beyond his years Hari, and an optimistic Muslim Father Imran, who holds blind faith in the people of India to put their prejudice and hatred aside. The family experiences today’s India, highlighting modern religious divides, intolerance and prejudice as they fight to make their film.

The film, which is produced by Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, stars Swapnil Ralkar, Rashmi Somvanshi, Gaurav Sharma, Vasuki, Dhruva Padmakumar, Vauka Sunkavalli.

It is surely one of the most anticipated films at IFFM 2017.
