It’s a rat race in the field of acting. In an industry, where there is no dearth of talent, it is important to carve a niche for yourself. As an aspiring actor, it is very important to leave a mark with not just your performance but your overall personality as well. Here are some essentials that can prove helpful for every budding actor.

Always be early or on time

Even though you will encounter a lot of unprofessional individuals in this industry, professionalism and courteous behaviour is always appreciated.

Always be nice, polite, and friendly to everyone (of all levels) on set

These are the people who are making your life easier on a daily basis, so thank them for it! Word travels fast and no one wants to work with a diva or a high maintenance actor.

Create your own material

Whether it’s writing, producing, filming, or directing, it is always important to have another creative outlet while you are auditioning and waiting for roles to come your way. You have to be proactive and create roles for yourself, so that you are always artistically fulfilled and challenged rather than depending on external factors (and a highly volatile industry) to get roles.

At least in the beginning, all opportunities to act are worthwhile

Sometimes even the smallest roles improve your craft and give you more experience.

Know your strengths and your weaknesses

Always have specific things within your craft that you are working on improving, and know the things you do incredibly well and use them to your benefit.
