The Jio MAMI 17th Mumbai Film Festival with Star India has a new partner on board- Drishyam Films for its ‘India Gold’ section. Drishyam Films founded by Manish Mundra, has introduced a new award called ‘Drishyam Presents’ Award, which will be given to the best feature film in the ‘India Gold’ category.

The ‘India Gold’ section showcases the best of Indian films produced this year and is a competition section with 13 films. The award shall entail a minimum investment of INR 50 Lacs from Drishyam Films. The studio will also extend support in terms of securing Indian theatrical distribution, international sales and festival management. Drishyam Films’ backed ‘Umrika’ starring Suraj Sharma is also competing in the section.

Announcing the ‘Drishyam Presents’ Award, Mr. Manish Mundra, Founder Drishyam Films, said, “We feel very strongly about the gap in distribution because of which deserving films are unable to reach the audiences. In order to build a culture of meaningful cinema, we felt it was necessary that we focus on supporting the distribution aspect and help a film complete its journey.”

Anupama Chopra, Festival Director, 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival said, “We are very happy that Mr. Mundra and Drishyam Films are presenting this award at MAMI. I am hopeful this will enable emerging voices.”

The 17th Jio MAMI’s Mumbai Film Festival will be held in Mumbai from October 29th to November 5th 2015. The film screenings will take place at PVR Juhu, PVR Citi Mall, Andheri, PVR LP, Phoenix Mills, PVR Ghatkopar and Regal-Colaba.
