An upcoming bilingual Biographical Bollywood feature film, ‘Thackeray’ is based on the life of Bal Thackeray –  the founder of the Indian political party, Shiv Sena. The film is directed by Abhijit Panse and written by Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena politician.

The titular role of Bal Thackeray will be played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the role of his wife (Meena Tai Thackeray) will be played by Amrita Rao.

The biopic is scheduled for release on 23 January 2019, the 93rd birthday of Bal Thackeray.
