Karan Johar

I was in New York for my mother’s treatment. One day, I was just wondering on the streets thinking about a story. I wanted to write something serious, something socially impactful, when I realized that I was in a phase of my life where I was recovering from a certain unrequited love. I also realized that no one has made a movie where the one-sided love is not returned till the end. One-sided love is probably the biggest ache and pain that you carry throughout your life. The movie is about this relentless unrequited love.

Anushka Sharma

My character Alizeh is a well fleshed out character. She is very real and comes across as someone you might know. She is flawed and broken, but that is what makes her so real.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Karan has presented Saba (my character) as someone who impacts the lives of the other characters. This communicates that it is not the on-screen duration of the character that matters but the impact that it has.
