Lessons-in-ForgettingAfter doing the rounds at festival circuits, the National Award winning film ‘Lessons In Forgetting’ directed by Unni Vijayan is all set to get a release in Delhi, thanks to PVR’s director’s rare initiatives! Another feather on the cap is that the film has secured support from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as the message of the film directly aligns to UNFPA’s scope of work in the country.

’Lessons In Forgetting’ is a powerful film based around sex selection and gender based violence – issues of urgent concern in the country. Addressing these practices and achieving gender equality lies at the heart of UNFPA’s global mandate. We support the film as it could create, raise awareness and stir change. However, it’s an all and all fiction film supported by UNFPA and not a documentary made by us,” said Frederika Meijer, UNFPA representative in India and Country Director for Bhutan.

The film has been screened at more than ten International film festivals and won many awards including the 60th National Film Awards in the English Film category and was also an official selection at International Film Festival of India (IIFI) – Indian Panorama.

Talking about the release Unni Vijayan, Director said, “This is a very sensitive film, we have come a long way and now it is releasing, I feel the hard work has paid off. We have been very well accepted in the International circuits and now just awaiting feedback from our own people.”

Produced by Prince Thampi of Arowana Studios and an adaptation of Anita Nair’s book by the same name, ‘Lessons In Forgetting’ stars veteran actor Adil Hussain and Dutch actress Maya Tideman in the lead and will hit the screens on 19th April across PVR theatres.

A gripping and heart-warming story of redemption, forgiveness and second chances, the film is sure to touch hearts!
